Chief Phillip Tavares reports that the Marshfield Police Department will be conducting liquor enforcement operations over the next several weeks. Police will be carrying out compliance checks at restaurants and businesses throughout Marshfield that have liquor licenses. The purpose of the compliance checks is to prevent persons under the age of 21 from obtaining alcohol and to ensure that liquor license holders, their employees, and those over 21 years of age, are not providing alcohol to minors. The Massachusetts Alcoholic Beverages Control Commission requires that local law authorities notify the public that they intend to conduct compliance checks prior to doing so.
